Prof. Dr. Thorsten Gehrke

Prof. Dr. med. Thorsten Gehrke is the Medical Director and chief surgeon of the department of Endoprosthetics, Revision and Septic Joint Surgery at the Helios ENDO-Klinik Hamburg, one of the top joint replacement centres in Europe. He studied medicine at the University of Hamburg, and finished his orthopedic and trauma surgery training at Johanniter Hospital Geesthacht, Christian Albrechts University Kiel and at the ENDO-Klinik Hamburg. He has been the department's leader since 2005, and has decades of experience in complex joint surgery, caring for patients from around the world. His clinical interests include disc replacement, ankle joint replacement, aseptic revision and septic revision surgery for the hip and knee. His department conducts more than 9,000 concurrent surgical procedures a year.
