Dr Siva Kumar Ariaretnam is a Consultant Orthopeadic Surgeon at Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC), Malaysia, focusing his practice on joint replacement, robotic surgery and trauma. He was educated at the Pondicherry University, India, completing his MBBS before coming to Malaysia to pursue his MS in Orthopaedics. Following this, he was appointed as Chief Resident in Orthopaedic Trauma at the University of Malaya in 2003. This came after more than a decade of perfecting fast-track TKR practices. - __Fast-Track TKR Protocol__: Developed and implemented a patient care pathway designed by MDT that allows patients to mobilise as early as a few hours post knee replacement and ascend stairs on the same day, decreasing the likelihood of DVT or VTE. - __Sutureless Wound Closure Technique__: Created an innovative wound closure system that means that patients do not need to visit hospital for stitch removal-a great benefit for overseas customers.
