The Evangelismos General Hospital is the biggest state-run general hospital in Greece, situated in the Kolonaki area of central Athens, and directly opposite the Evangelismos metro station. The hospital was founded in 1881884, funded partly by the queen Olga and partly by the Tsar Alexander II and served as a charity hospital, before being nationalised in 1983 and becoming a part of the Greek National Health System.
