Bariatric Revision Surgery Abroad
93% of Australians have recommended this.
Revision surgery is an additional procedure intended to enhance or modify the effects of a previous surgery that did not meet expectations or resulted in complications that occurred after the operation. Revision surgeries are common for bariatric surgery, joint replacements, plastic/cosmetic surgeries, and other dental treatments which require adjustments to be made to the original surgical results. The revisions can include correcting anatomical issues, replaceable prosthetic devices or repairing previous surgical interventions to correct or improve functional abilities, reduce pain/discomfort and create better aesthetic results. CureMeAbroad provides patients access to internationally recognized hospitals with experienced surgeons who perform revision/complex surgeries. Before each case, our team evaluates each case to identify why the previous results were less than ideal, and develops a customized strategy for each patient's current needs and treatment objectives. Additionally, the hospitals provide patients with advanced diagnostic equipment and state-of-the-art surgical technology that allows them to accurately correct their anatomy and safely and effectively address their revision needs. By providing these international centers with superior medical care, and all the amenities and resources needed by patients traveling abroad for revision surgery, patients receive high quality, affordable, effective treatment, and achieve increased functionality, improved aesthetic results, and increased self-confidence in their health.

Procedure Time
Usually between 2 and 4 hours because the surgical dissection can be quite difficult with the presence of adhesions and altered anatomy.
Recovery Timeline
The patient will normally stay 2-3 days in the hospital. They will be able to do light office work for approximately 2-4 weeks on a liquid-to-solid diet progression.
Expected Results
Approximately a 20-50% further weight loss is expected from this revision. Additionally, many chronic conditions such as GERD (severe acid reflux), are also resolved as well as pouch stretching that may have developed after an initial surgery.
Ideal Candidates
Ideal candidates include individuals who have experienced "weight loss plateau," mechanical failures (like a slipped gastric band), or persistent nutritional deficiencies from a prior surgery.
