Dr. Mr. David Verity

Mr. David H. Verity is one of the UK's foremost Consultant Ophthalmic & Oculoplastic Surgeons, specialising exclusively in diseases and disorders of the eye's surrounding structures — the eyelids, lacrimal (tear duct) system, eye socket, and orbit. He holds a consultant post at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, where he also serves as Adnexal Service Director, and consults privately at The London Claremont Clinic. Mr. Verity trained in medicine at Oxford University, before undertaking specialist training in ophthalmology across the UK and internationally, including a fellowship at the St John Ophthalmic Hospital in Jerusalem. He completed two dedicated fellowships in ophthalmic adnexal surgery before being appointed Consultant at Moorfields in 2004. He also holds an MD from the University of London for his research in immunogenetics and ocular disease, and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lectureship at University College London. He is a leading national and international figure in oculoplastic surgery — having served as President of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS) and Honorary Treasurer of the European Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS). He was Editor-in-Chief of the international journal ORBIT from 2010 to 2016 and is a member of the exclusive Orbital Society, elected in 2009. He has authored over 109 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, with research spanning immunogenetics, eyelid, lacrimal, and orbital disease. Beyond his clinical and academic roles, Mr. Verity has a lifelong commitment to international ophthalmic charity work. He is a Knight of the Order of St John (KStJ), Hospitaller of the Order of St John, and Chair & Founder of the St John Ophthalmic Association (SOA), supporting the St John Eye Hospital Group's mission to combat blindness globally. He is also Chair and Co-founder of the Anglo-Spanish Ophthalmological Society (ASOS) and a faculty lecturer at the European School of Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology (ESASO).
