Dr. Sandeep Guleria

Dr. Sandeep Guleria has 33 years of experience and is a renowned surgeon specializing in gastrointestinal surgery and kidney transplants. He performed the first two successful kidney pancreas transplants in the subcontinent and was invited by the government of Nepal to set up a live donor transplant program at the Bir hospital in Kathmandu. He has also mentored renal transplant programs in Almaty, Dehradun, Ludhiana, and Guwahati. Dr. Guleria has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Padma Shri award by the President of India, the Smt. Rukmani Gopalakrishnan Award for standing FIRST in SURGERY, and the Luminary Award by the IMA South Delhi Branch. He is currently the Vice President of the Indian Society of Organ Transplantation and a member of the ethics committee of the Transplantation Society. Dr. Guleria has held several positions in his career, including Junior Resident, Senior Resident, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Additional Professor, and Professor at various prestigious institutions. He has achieved several milestones in his career, such as pioneering cadaveric renal transplantation in New Delhi, introducing the "donor card" in the city, setting up the pediatric transplant unit and the laparoscopic donor nephrectomy program at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, and setting up the renal transplant program at RML Hospital.
