Dr. Arun Prasad

Dr. Arun Prasad falls in the category of the modern "general" surgeon. He has been part of the minimal access surgery revolution. The experience of wide ranging minimally invasive surgery has now translated to robotic surgery where he is doing procedures in the chest, upper and lower abdominal areas with ease. He is one of the most experienced surgeons in India in the world with 35 years of expertise, performing laparoscopies (1990), advanced laparoscopies (1997), single incision laparoscopic (2010), bariatric surgery (2004), robotic surgery (2012), and bariatric endoscopy (2018). He worked at Charing Cross Medical School in London and related institutions after earning his FRCS there in 1990. His group established laparoscopic surgery at that facility. He joined Apollo Hospitals in 1996 as one of the youngest senior consultants after his return from the UK. In 2019, he was also awarded the renowned FACS (USA). Laparoscopy pioneer in the UK and India. First generation in India for advanced GI laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, SILS, bariatric, and robotic surgery with numerous first operations. Specialising in robotic surgery, laparoscopy, VATS thoracoscopy, and endoscopic surgery. Former President of the Indian Society for Obesity Surgery (OSSI).
